How can I forget?

But they did not understand what he was saying to them. Luke 2:50

At the age of twelve, Jesus stayed in Jerusalem as his parents traveled home after Passover. Oh, the panic Mary and Joseph must have felt! Every parent panics when a child is lost. When they found him, He very plainly told them that it was necessary to be in His Father's house, but they didn't understand.

How could they not?

Since before He was born, they had been told who He was. Jesus was the Christ. The shepherds knew it on the day of His birth. Simeon and Anna knew it at the temple when He was eight days old. There was such a buzz around Jesus. How could they forget that He was the Son of God?

Lord, how do I so easily forget as well?

I know that Jesus is the Christ, for Your Spirit has confirmed it within my heart. Yet I often choose to follow the world rather than the One sent to save it. Forgive me for not depending on You every moment of the day. Help me to understand Your words. Help me to walk with You today.
