"This is so the Israelites will bring to the Lord the sacrifices they are now making in the open fields. They must bring them to the priest, that is, to the Lord, at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting and sacrifice them as fellowship offerings." Leviticus 17:5
God established a lasting ordinance. All sacrifices were to be made at the Tent of Meeting. God was the rightful owner of the sacrifices, and He wanted them to be presented to Himself - not given away to any other god.
Lord, You are the rightful owner of my heart, yet so often I find myself trying to give it away. Are You really there?
My heart doubts sometimes.
Too often I feel as if I stand in the open fields and reminisce about the gods I once worshiped. My hearts wants to abandon You. I long for the days when I sought my desires rather than Yours. Help me, Father, to give myself to You, my rightful owner. Save me from those who would take me from You.
