When Joshua was old and well advanced in years, the Lord said to him, "You are very old, and there are still very large areas of land to be taken." Joshua 13:1
I've been told many times to live in such a way that I will have no regrets. None of us want to reach the end of life and realize how much we missed.
Joshua must have experienced some regret. He had much to celebrate about his life. Yet the Lord reminded him of the land not yet subdued. There were large regions where the Israelites had not yet taken the land - places that interestingly are still a source of contention in Israel today.
Unfortunately, I believe regardless of how we live our lives, there will still be work undone. There will still be unsettled conflicts, uncaptured dreams, and promises yet to be fulfilled.
Lord, I know I am finite. I will never achieve everything I would like in this lifetime. I also realize I shouldn't live life worrying about what I will miss because I won't enjoy the blessings You give. Help me to do what I can to further Your kingdom Help me to be content with You wonder blessing. Continue to work though me as You choose. There is so much to be done!
